A very popular shade tree, valued for its delicate, ferny dark green foliage which casts a dappled shade below. The compound leaves turn a lovely gold in the fall. Its fine and delicate texture to the landscape composition which can make it a great accent feature on this basis alone. It is relatively low maintenance tree. It has a high canopy so it should not be planted below power lines. It is not particular as to soil type or pH, and is able to handle environmental salt. 'Skyline Honeylocust' is a selection of a native North American species. Deer resistant.
