Prefers well-drained soils but fairly adaptable to other soil types.  If necessary, prune immediately after the spring bloom.  Best flowering occurs in full sun, but light shade isn't harmful, particularly in warmer climates.
If desired, fertilize in early spring with a granular fertilizer formulated for woody plants, like a rose fertilizer.
The lipstick red flowers are remarkable enough to make this a choice selection, but a burst of flowers in May followed by waves of rebloom until frost make it a must-have shrub.  Deadheading is not needed to keep the plant blooming.
Lipstick red flowers in spring.  Repeat flowers until frost.  Reblooms without deadheading.  Attracts hummingbirds.

Sonic Bloom Red is a compact and very dense shrub, 4 to 5 feet high and wide at maturity, with lipstick red blooms that arise in uncountable numbers amid the dark green foliage. It never needs deadheading, making it virtually maintenance-free once established in the garden. What a great choice for the foundation, along the driveway, as a low hedge, or even in a mass planting.
Like all Weigela cultivars, Sonic Bloom Red is a magnet for hummingbirds and is generally unpalatable to deer. Plant it fearlessly in an open or meadow garden, where it combines beautifully with perennials and other sun-loving shrubs. Adaptable, easy, and so long blooming, it's a must-have this season.

A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrubs variety, Sonic Bloom® Red is an incredibly prolific reblooming Weigela, beginning the season with a heavy flush in late spring and then continuing all summer and fall. Welcome to the new millennium in weigela breeding! There's never been anything like it, and you will absolutely love it for nonstop 3-season color in the sunny garden.
