Stewartstonian Azaleas are covered with abundant clusters of lightly-scented reddish-orange trumpet-shaped flowers at the ends of the branches in mid spring before the leaves. The dark green narrow leaves do not develop and appreciable fall color. It is a relatively low maintenance shrub. This gable hybrid is known for its cold hardiness. Ensure the soil is well-drained and highly acidic. Protect for strong winds. Prefers morning sun and afternoon shade. It adds a great texture to the landscape.
