'Akebono' is a stunning flowering Japanese cherry tree cultivar that has mildly fragrant, soft pink flowers that fade to white when they fully open in the spring. It's one of the favorites National and International Cherry Blossom Festivals. The glossy, dark green leaves turn golden yellow in the fall. The attractive gray bark adds interest to the winter landscape. Birds love the fruit.
