'Asessippi', a prolific bloomer, showcases upright branches adorned with fragrant, deep lilac panicles. Beautiful when in bloom. Blooming earlier that common lilacs, this lilac produces abundant single blossoms throughout, even on lower branches. Its attractive habit, disease resistance, and blue-green heart shaped leaves, turning deep purple in fall. Flowers are excellent for cutting. Blooms on old wood. Requires occasional maintenance and upkeep, and should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current season's flowers. It is a good choice for attracting butterflies to your yard. Deer will usually go after something better tasting than this. Produces suckers.
