A vigorous grower is densely covered with long, stiff, dark green needles and 2-3" cones. Pyramidal habit when young. but as the tree grows, the crown rounds and forms a dome shape. It holds its branches close to the ground. Austrian pines withstand many adverse conditions, tolerates drought, poor soil, wind, and coastal and urban conditions. Deer resistant.
