This native American chokecherry variety boasts green leaves in the spring that turn into a stunning dark purple in mid-summer. Lovely hanging clusters of fragrant white flowers adorn the tree in mid-spring. The small reddish-purple chokecherry fruits can be used for jams and preserves (they are poisonous when raw). The ornamental leaves turn an outstanding red in the fall. It is a good choice for attracting birds to your yard.
