It's a compact shrub that makes a big statement in the garden. Girard's Hot Shot boasts beautiful, bright crimson blooms that cover dense mounded branches in mid spring. At the end of the season the foliage turns reddish-orange. It's relatively low maintenance and should be pruned after flowering. Should be planted in well-drained, highly acidic soil. Does best in morning sun and afternoon shade. Attracts butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees.
