A dense, upright mounded shrub noted for its outstanding ovate shaped golden-yellow leaves in spring, changing to yellow-green as the summer progresses. The luminous foliage turns brilliant shades of orange, red and yellow in fall. Panicles of rosy red flowers rise above the foliage in summer, creating a dynamic contrast. Excellent for brightening shrub borders. Good heat tolerance. Re-blooms if deadheaded. It attracts pollinators, such as butterflies and bees, and deer usually ignore it.
