Green Mountain displays an upright canopy with dense, waxy green foliage. The dark green leaves retain their color even during dry summer months. Fall color is has a reddish orange glow. This tree should only be grown in full sunlight. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions. Grows best in rich soils and is not particular to soil pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. This is a selection of a native North American species.
