'Green Vase' is a fast-growing tree with upright, arching branches and a broad, vase-shaped, semi-open crown. As the tree ages, the crown broadens. The grey trunk is smooth at first with pink to brownish orange lenticels. Later, it flakes off in sheets, revealing the orange-brown bast underneath. The ovoid to elongated leaves are soft green and turn a coppery bronze in the autumn. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist locations, and should do just fine under average home landscape conditions. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is quite tolerant of urban pollution.
