An unusual vase-shaped small tree, National Chinese Dogwood features showy clusters of light green flowers with large creamy white flower held atop the branches in late spring. It features an abundance of magnificent red berries, which are larger than normal, from early to mid fall. It has green foliage throughout the season. The pointy leaves turn scarlet in the fall. The peeling gray bark adds an interesting dimension to the landscape. It requires rich, well-drained acidic soil and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location.
