The short, thick, bright green needles of the vibrant Pinus densiflora ‘Low Glow’ keep their color all year long. Low Glow Japanese Red Pine is a multi-stemmed evergreen shrub with a stunning habit of growth which features almost oriental horizontally-tiered branches. Its average texture blends into the landscape, but can be balanced by one or two finer or coarser trees or shrubs for an effective composition. Prominent tan buds add interest to this seedling from a witch’s broom.
This is a relatively low maintenance shrub. When pruning is necessary, it is recommended to only trim back the new growth of the current season, other than to remove any dieback. Grows 3-6 inches a year.
