The compact, bushy Ginkgo biloba ‘Mariken’ is similar to other Ginkgo trees but it is a dwarf and is much smaller and it grows on a standard trunk (see pictures above). It has the same fan-shaped bluish-green foliage which emerges chartreuse in spring. The leaves that turn golden-yellow in fall. Its thick, spreading branches are loaded with a dense arrangement of foliage. The slow-growing, deciduous conifer makes a high-interest architectural feature, a flat, rounded, form, for either small garden or container. It is even sizeable enough that it can be grown alone in a suitable container. Note that when grown in a container, it may not perform exactly as indicated on the tag - this is to be expected. Also note that when growing plants in outdoor containers and baskets, they may require more frequent waterings than they would in the yard or garden. Be aware that in our climate, most plants cannot be expected to survive the winter if left in containers outdoors, and this plant is no exception. They are not guaranteed in not properly taken care of. We prefer that they are planted in the ground. Please get in touch with Wilson, our resident plant guru, if you decide to plant it in a container.
