Compact, globe form with short flattened needles that start off bright green and mature to dark green as the season progresses. The tiny needles remain dark green throughout the winter. In the fall prominent brown buds on the tips of the branches lend added character. Prefers moist well-drained acidic soil. More tolerant of shade than other firs. Grows 1-3" per year.
