PJM rhododendrons are a group of hybrid, evergreen shrubs that were developed to be exceptionally winter hardy. Some claim that it's “New England’s most familiar flowering shrub”. Thick, small, leathery, dark green, leaves turn a mahogany-purple in winter, making them a wonderful addition to the winter garden. Vivid lavender to pale pink flower trusses in late spring. Ideal location is morning sun and afternoon shade. They grow well in moist, acidic soils but do not like wet feet. Pruning, if desired, may be done after flowering. This plant is resistant to browsing by rabbits.
