'Royal Burgundy' is a small, deciduous tree with ascending branches like its parent' Kwanzan, but smaller. Deep red-purple leaves appear in early spring along with stunning clusters of fragrant double reddish-pink flowers. The serrated pointy leaves are highly ornamental and turn reddish-orange in fall. The peeling copper red bark adds an interesting dimension to the landscape.
