'Scarlett Fire' has been described as “the most consistent and deepest pink–bracted kousa dogwood on the market.” Introduced in 2017, it represents 45 years of dogwood-breeding work at Rutgers, and it is the first kousa dogwood to emerge from the program. Bloom occurs in late spring, with showy, deep fuchsia-pink flowers that can last for weeks. It is followed by abundant red berries. This highly ornamental dogwood would be a perfect addition to any garden. A wonderful specimen tree, Cornus kousa ‘Rutpink’ is the most pink, heaviest flowering Kousa dogwood currently on the market.
