Stunning silvery-blue needles, slow growth rate, and classic conical form make Picea pungens ‘Sester Dwarf’ an ideal plant for the modern landscape. Growing at only about one-fourth the rate of its large parent, it is the perfect small-garden form of Colorado Blue Spruce, and is virtually maintenance free to keep its tidy shape. It's primarily valued in the landscape or garden for its distinctively pyramidal habit of growth. It has attractive silvery blue evergreen foliage. The needles are highly ornamental and remain silvery blue throughout the winter. It is considered to be drought-tolerant, and thus makes an ideal choice for xeriscaping or the moisture-conserving landscape. It is not particular as to soil type or pH, and is able to handle environmental salt. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. This is a selection of a native North American species. Grows 3-6 inches a year.
