A slow growing, deciduos flowering tree with deep green, serrated foliage. The flowers start out as dark pink buds opening blush white with a red base. The flowers appear at the end of May, beginning of June. Flowers give way to dark reddish brown capsules. Fall color can be a remarkable crimson-red to orange-red. Reddish bark flakes to reveal gray to tan bark underneath to add winter interest to the landscape. The perfect tree for a woodland setting.
