An exquisitely beautiful magnolia with fragrant, tulip-shaped, yellow blooms that are striped with pink held atop the branches, just as the foliage emerges. Blooms occur later than others, so less frost damage occurs. This deciduous magnolia features a narrower upright habit that is ideal for lawns and gardens. The flowers appear late, just as foliage emerges. The pointy, dark green foliage turn coppery-bronze in fall. Prefers moist, slightly acidic, well-drained soil. Provide a sheltered area from cold, dry winds, as cold winds may damage buds and flowers. Very sensitive to late spring frosts. Attract butterflies, bees, and songbirds. Deer resistant.
