Is your garden ready for a focal point? Great design is all about color, form and movement, and this Japanese maple displays all three. Considered by experts as the most reliable and easiest to grow of the darker foliaged cut-leaf maples, Tamukeyama's deeply lobed burgundy, almost purple foliage is borne on a mounding structure that's more wide than tall, with branches that cascade beyond the confines of its base. The lovely color of the leaves don't fade in the summer. In the fall, it turns bright, vibrant red. Deep red bark provides plenty of winter interest.
It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich soils. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution, and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location. Morning sun and afternoon shade/part shade.
