The most colorful of all bi-colored forms, Picea bicolor (alcoquiana) ‘Howell’s Dwarf’ displays needles with bright, silver-blue undersides, green tops and a tint of yellow on the most exposed surfaces. A flat-topped bush when young, it eventually develops into a pyramidal tree, or you can maintain its flat form by removing upward shoots. Cones emerge an attractive reddish-purple. Likes moist, well-drained soil. Attracts birds.
