The Acer palmatum 'Twombly's Red Sentinel' is a columnar maple perfect for narrow spaces or an entryway. Rich, attractive burgundy foliage emerges red in spring. The small lobed palmate leaves are highly ornamental and turn an outstanding crimson in the fall.
Sun Needs: Important to think about light exposure: Too much light can damage delicate leaves. Too little light, and some of the more colorful varieties will take on an attractive greenish tone, but not the brilliant fall red/purple colors. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich well-drained soil. This delicate variety will fare better in part shade.
