Chamaecyparis nootkatensis ‘Jubilee’ grows into an extremely narrow form with deep, rich green foliage. With age, the fast-growing trees develop fascinating character. Each has an upright, spire-like main trunk and gracefully draping branches that look like arms. No two are exactly the same. That is just one of the reasons why so many people are drawn to it. The majestic tree produces secondary sub-leaders, forming a grove-like cluster of uprights.
This is a relatively low maintenance tree. When pruning is necessary, it is recommended to only trim back the new growth of the current season, other than to remove any dieback. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is quite intolerant of urban pollution, therefore inner city or urban streetside plantings are best avoided, and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location. This is a selection of a native North American species.
