If you want something unique, a weeping beech is for you. They are spectacular and no two look the same. These ornamental, spreading beeches have undulating upwardly growing branches. From these, floppy limbs droop down vertically, sometimes almost touching the ground. The soft bark is smooth and gray. The oval to ovate leaves are shiny dark green and in autumn they turn coppery-bronze. Small, inconspicuous flower catkins are followed by large nuts in a bristled capsule. 'Pendula' is a graceful, specimen tree that with age displays an impressive appearance. It prospers in well-drained soil that is not too wet. Moderate wind resistance.
