White Catawba Rhododendron is covered in stunning clusters of white trumpet-shaped flowers with olive green spots at the ends of the branches in mid spring, which emerge from distinctive lilac purple flower buds. It has narrow dark green evergreen foliage. Its relatively coarse texture can be used to stand it apart from other landscape plants with finer foliage. It must have well-drained, highly acidic and organic soil. Use plenty of peat moss when planting. This is a relatively low maintenance shrub and should only be pruned after flowering to avoid removing any of the current seasons flowers. Prefers morning sun and afternoon shade. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Rabbit resistant. This is a selection of a native North American species.
